Got Wells? Last Chance to Register for the EPA GWR Monitoring Plan Webcast

The USEPA Guidance Document for complying with the Groundwater Rule discusses the use and benefits of hydraulic computer models. American Water applied the hydraulic model to support the approval of Representative Source Water Monitoring Plans avoiding costly sampling efforts. In this webcast, you will learn how to use the hydraulic model output to indicate the extents and various incremental percentages that each supply source would likely contribute to a system's Total Coliform Rule monitoring sites...

Los Angeles County Hydraulic Model User Group - Content Filled!

Thank you to the recent Los Angeles County Hydraulic Model User Group (LACHMUG) attendees, as well as those that considered but could not make it... With the City of Arcadia hosting, esri and Glendale Water & Power (GWP) delivered content-rich presentations to the group on topics including latest applications of ArcGIS V10 for water/wastewater utilities and hydraulic model applications to maximize system storage while increasing fire flows and prioritizing (and saving) CIP dollars.

Making the most out of Metadata

Metadata is essentially information that describes data and can be loosely defined as “data about data”.  Metadata is sometimes overlooked in the hydraulic modeling community.  However, if available, metadata can be useful in understanding the quality of data and can enhance hydraulic model development.  Metadata that might accompany a water or wastewater GIS dataset, for example, may provide a wealth of information including horizontal and vertical projection information, overall data accuracy and completeness, user constraints, contact information, accuracy and source of attribute information, and other important details.  This type of information can answer fundamental questions a modeler may have during the initial stages of hydraulic model development.
